Rogue Space is a term used to refer to stars, planets, and other objects that do not orbit a Galaxy. This is a real-life concept: [1]

In the Known Universes, Rogue Space is often associated with high-risk, multi-step travel between Galaxies. Even with the levels of technology seen in TTMA and other civilizations, intergalactic travel remains perilous because there is no way to send a superluminal signal by itself. If one becomes stranded, one must wait for a courier ship (these are typically prearranged along the paths of intergalactic expeditions), or somehow repair and refuel enough to travel to the nearest known inhabited place.
