Neural Loop

From Known Universes Wiki

Neural loops are a form of communication where the central nervous system of the user is directly stimulated. Stimulations can take the form of audiovisual hallucination, rapid injection of knowledge, or even complex syntheses of sentiment, others' thoughts, or essentially any possible qualia. Although the basic mechanism of directly driving neural activity is similar to Hylavation, neural loops are only able to induce experiences the user's neurobiology is already capable of having. An additional layer of translation is needed to have impossible thoughts.

Examples

Voiceloop
Only auditory experiences are transmitted between participants.
Meeting Loop
Auditory experiences are mixed with the perceptual impressions of others. Exchanging these kinds of impressions can greatly aid in situations where collective agreement is needed on a matter of value judgement.
Memory Loop
Capable of injecting the experience of remembrance. This is not quite the same as implanting memories, as the receiver does not self-identify with the memory. Instead, one experiences remembering something, and that something is clearly unconnected to the rest of one's memories.
